Candace Owens has sparked backlash after alleging the late conservative commentator CharlieKirk was “in love” with another woman before he married Erika Kirk.
During the Tuesday, December 2 episode of Candace, the 36-year-old host shared private text messages between her and Kirk, in which he asked her for outfit advice.
“I’m going to miss Charlie going on dates and the young girls that he liked and me always being the wing woman,” she explained. “One of my favorite text messages between me and Charlie [was] when he was getting ready to go on a date.”
“He didn’t date many people and he was just kind of in love with this girl,” Owens continued, as a text message between the two showing Kirk asking whether he should change out of a Turning Point USA shirt he was wearing flashed on the screen.
“It’s so sweet,” Owens added.

However, posting the exchange publicly didn’t sit well with Kirk supporters, who saw it as disrespectful to Erika, whom Charlie married in May 2021. The couple shared two children.
Influencer Isabella Maria DeLuca — who has more than 500,000 followers on X — called it “absolutely deranged behavior” and “absolutely reprehensible” on social media. Podcaster Scarlett Johnson echoed the criticism, saying on X that she believes “the only person who can protect Charlie’s legacy from this cruel Jezebel & her army of psychopaths…is Erika Kirk.”
Others on social media labeled the moment “highly inappropriate.” Conservative commentator Mandy Vannoy also added fury on X: “In a world full of Candace Owens, be an Erika Kirk.”
Charlie, a right-wing political activist, was assassinated at the age of 31 in September during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour. After his death, Erika, 37, was appointed CEO of Turning Point USA.
