Four people were rescued after their boat struck a rocky islet offshore Maine and began sinking shortly after midnight Tuesday.
The Ogunquit Fire Department said their Marine unit responded to a request from the Wells Fire Department for assistance rescuing four people from a sinking vessel that struck Bibb Rock, a notorious navigational hazard more than a mile offshore, shortly after midnight.
A video shared by the Ogunquit Fire Department shows a boat crew safely rescuing the four mariners from their vessel in darkness.
All four passengers were safely transported to Perkins Cove where multiple EMS agencies were waiting. They were evaluated at the scene and “transported for additional medical care as needed.”
The fire department said it was the second marine rescue in that area so far this season.
