2 Charged With Leaving Children In Car To Play Video Poker Inside Bar
Two people in West Virginia are facing charges for allegedly leaving two small children inside a car while they went into a bar to play video poker, authorities said.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Office said they received a call at around 2 p.m. Friday reporting that a small child was unattended inside a vehicle while the driver was inside the G&V Club in Williamson playing video poker.
Responding deputies arrived to find there were in fact two small children unattended inside the parked vehicle. The sheriff’s office said surveillance video revealed that two adults left the children in the vehicle, and that they had been inside the club for 59 minutes without checking on them.
Sgt N. Mines and Deputy T. Layne arrested the suspects, David W. Compton and Lori A. Messer, on one count each of child neglect.
