Police are saying Tara Reid’s story doesn’t add up — and some are now pointing fingers back at her, Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Stubstack on Friday, December 5.

The American Pie actress, 50, filed a police report saying she “completely blacked out” after having a drink with a stranger at a hotel bar near Chicago’s O’Hare Airport in late November. But because their investigation failed to uncover any proof of her claims, authorities are “frustrated” and “running out of patience,” Shuter reported.

“The police don’t love being contradicted by a celebrity.  Especially when they think the evidence is on their side,” one insider told Shuter.

According to Rosemont, Illinois, cops, “at no time did video show anyone tampering with or adding something to her drink. We can confirm that a bartender covered her drink when she left the bar which is standard practice for bartenders to do,” they said in a statement to People on Wednesday, December 3.

Now, authorities are waiting on toxicology reports before deciding how to handle the situation, Shuter reported.

“If the hospital tests don’t back her up, they may feel they have to make an example” of Reid, another source told the gossip columnist, noting the overwhelming amount of paperwork involved in the case.

“We’re not calling her a liar… but let’s just say options are being discussed,” added a third source. “Filing a false report? It’s not off the table.”

The Sharknado star insisted that she is telling the truth about her “horrifying experience,” she said in a statement to People on Thursday, December 4: “Bottom line is no one ends up in the hospital incapacitated for over 8 hours after a drink…. I believe I was drugged. Something happened to me.”
