Sydney Sweeney seems to be putting that age-old adage to the test.
The 28-year-old actress found herself back in the headlines after hanging bras all over the Hollywood Sign to promote her new lingerie brand Syrn — a stunt that could land her in legal trouble and that comes just a few months after her American Eagle ad campaign sparked a ton of controversy, too.
“Sydney’s being told by everyone around her in Hollywood that there’s no such thing as bad publicity and she’s leaning hard into that advice,” a source tells the National Enquirer. “Every headline keeps her name out there and that’s exactly what she wants right now, so from her perspective, this is all a big win.”

However, “there are a lot of people in her life who aren’t in the business so they are seeing the bigger picture and begging her to rethink this strategy,” adds the source. “They worry that she’s selling herself short by constantly leaning into her sex appeal.”
Euphoria may have made Sweeney a star, but she’s since established herself as a bankable leading lady.
The Housemaid grossed $300 million at the global box office and Anyone But You brought in $200 million worldwide.
“She’s actually a truly talented actress but she’s always going for the biggest cash grab and that does a real disservice to her as an artist,” says Enquirer’s source. “There’s this feeling among a lot of her friends that she’s better than this.”

Sweeney, who raised eyebrows when she sold bars of soap made with her bathwater, doesn’t see it that way at all, though.
“She struggled a lot to get her big break and feels the best thing she can do for herself long-term is bring in as much money as she can while it’s on the table,” the source explains. “She doesn’t care if people brand her a bimbo and says when she’s a billionaire, she will be having the last laugh.”
