Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman ‘Not Happy About’ His Ex’s Latest Career Move: ‘Done Out of Spite’ (Exclusive)

Deborra-Lee Furness is ready to make a bold new career move — and it’s causing anxiety for ex-husband Hugh Jackman and his girlfriend Sutton Foster, a source tells the National Enquirer.

“Deb was the brains behind a lot of Hugh’s big career moves, especially when it came to Broadway and the kind of deals he landed over the years,” reveals the source. “She had a real instinct for spotting opportunities and steering him in the right direction.”

Now, the Australian actress and producer, 70, is looking to use that skill to reinvigorate her own career.

“She’s started taking on acting roles again, and she’s let it be known she’s looking for projects to direct so she’s been reading a lot of scripts,” says the source. “She’s also been spending a ton of time in New York connecting with the theatre crowd and taking meetings.”

Word has spread up and down the Great White Way, reaching Jackman, 57, and Foster, 50.

“There’s all this buzz that [Deb] may produce and direct her own Broadway show,” spills a source. “She hasn’t announced anything yet but Hugh and Sutton are well aware of all the talk and they can’t help but feel this is being done out of spite.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, Jackman and Furness announced their separation in September 2023 amid rumors of a clandestine affair with Foster, his married leading lady in the Broadway revival of The Music Man.

“Broadway is their world,” notes the source. “It’s very hard to understand why Deb is going this direction and they are not happy about it.”
