President Donald Trump denied Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ request for a pardon earlier this year, but a new report says the “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” rapper still thinks he has a chance.

“Diddy thinks Trump respects fighters,” a source told Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Wednesday, June 17. “As long as Trump is in the White House, he believes there’s still a chance.”

Another source told the gossip blog that Combs, 56, “has never been someone who gives up” and that he “always believes there’s another move left to make.”

As for the reasoning behind the disgraced music mogul’s thought process, a third source said it comes from his admiration for the Apprentice alum, 80.

“Diddy was fascinated by Trump,” a former associate of Combs explained. “He viewed him as the ultimate dealmaker and loved the larger-than-life image he created.”

Shuter also chimed in with his own opinion after having previously worked for the “It’s All About the Benjamins” artist, saying that Combs “has always been drawn to people who think big, move fast, and refuse to accept limits.”

The Bad Boy Records founder was arrested in September 2024 on federal charges that included racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He spent months in federal custody before he was acquitted of the racketeering and sex trafficking charges in July 2025.

However, he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and sentenced to 50 months in prison.

In January, the New York Times reported Trump, 80, revealed that Combs had asked him for a pardon “through a letter” but confirmed that he would not be granting the request.

Combs was originally scheduled for release in June 2028, but earlier this year the date was moved to April 2028. On Tuesday, June 16, the Los Angeles Times reported that his prison release date was moved up once again — this time to February 23, 2028.
