Ryan Reynolds Is Not a Fan of Hugh Jackman’s Girlfriend Sutton Foster: ‘It’s a Status Thing’

Ryan Reynolds still thinks the world of his Deadpool & Wolverine onscreen foil Hugh Jackman, but he’s not a fan of his old pal’s current love interest, Sutton Foster. Now, a source exclusively tells National Enquirer that it’s putting a strain on their decades-long friendship.

“Ryan is not about to tell Hugh that he has to break up with Sutton, but he’s also doing nothing to bring her into the tight knit group of A-listers he associates with,” the source says. “It’s a status thing, and Ryan sees himself as a movie star and a mogul, and he’s careful about the company he keeps, almost to a fault.”

The source points out that Reynolds, 49, has “only been in relationships with world famous women, going back to his early 20s” and Foster, 50, is “still not a household name, despite her long list of Broadway hits and TV credits.”

“To put it in high school terms, Ryan is the homecoming king and captain of the football team, and Sutton is one of the geeky theater girls,” the source explains. “Sure, Hugh has that side of him too, but he’s rich and famous for his blockbuster movies more than his song-and-dance act.”

“Ryan, like a lot of people in Hugh’s life, see the affair with Sutton as a rebound relationship,” the source continues, referring to Jackman’s split from ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness, “and expect that he’ll eventually move on to somebody he can more comfortably consider an equal.”

The source adds that Jackman, 57, and Foster — who filed for divorce from Ted Griffin in October 2024 — “have had to sequester themselves from Ryan and his family to protect from Ryan’s snobbishness” and says that “there’s a real imbalance going on.”

“It’s also been noticeably quieter when it comes to chatter about Hugh and Ryan making a non-Marvel movie together or teaming up to host the Oscars,” the source says. “Ryan is obsessed with status and the Hollywood pecking order. It’s helped him with his career, but it’s made him into a terrible friend.”
