The prosecuting attorney in Tyler Robinson’s case has fired back at his defense team’s claims that the bullet that killed Charlie Kirk was not one that matched Robinson’s rifle.

“Generally when a bullet fragment analysis comes back as inconclusive, that means the fragment did not contain enough detail for the examiner to say one way or the other,” attorney Christopher Ballard told TMZ on Tuesday, March 31.

“There’s just not enough there to determine whether the bullet was fired by a particular firearm,” he added. “We have ample evidence to demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt that Tyler Robinson committed this murder and we will present some of that evidence at the upcoming preliminary hearing – and then we will present all of that evidence at the trial.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, court documents obtained by the Daily Mail on Monday, March 30, included a statement from Robinson’s defense team that said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives “was unable to identify the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to Mr. Robinson.”

The same day, Fox News reported that the defense had requested the preliminary hearing be delayed.

Robinson, 22, is accused of murdering Kirk at the age of 31 on September 10, 2025. The conservative commentator was giving a speech during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour at Utah Valley University when Robinson allegedly fired the shot from somewhere nearby.

Kirk was immediately transferred to a local hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities arrested Robinson less than 36 hours later and charged him with aggravated murder.
