A police force in Pennsylvania is thanking neighbors who intervened to rescue a woman from an alleged kidnapping attempt until officers could arrive.
The Beaver Valley Regional Police Department said officers responded on June 16 to a report of an assault in the Borough of Baden. They arrived to find “several” nearby residents had intervened and assisted the female victim of what they described as an attempted kidnapping.
Investigators determined a man who was unknown to the victim, later identified as 24-year-old Kevin Alexander Flores, allegedly restrained her and tried to force her into her residence.
The victim, who did not want to be identified, told WPXI’s Andrew Havranek she was sitting on her own porch when Flores approached, told her he was drunk and high, then “proceeded to say how pretty I was and that he would marry me.”
She said Flores asked which apartment was hers, then grabbed her and tried to drag her inside. She held onto the doorframe to resist his efforts as several neighbors arrived to help her.
“My arms are all bruised and cut up, my back, my legs, my chest,” she told the outlet.
According to WPXI, Flores was actually the first to call 911, claiming he was in a fight with three men who “wanted to have sex with him.”
Investigators determined that was not the case, and arrested Flores on charges of attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness.
“The Beaver Valley Regional Police Department would like to thank the citizens who intervened and assisted the victim until police arrived,” the department said.
