As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, enters its fourth week, all eyes are on NBC.

While most of the 54-year-old Today anchor’s colleagues are wearing yellow ribbons in a display of hope and optimism, some NBC staffers seem to have chosen not to — and people at work are taking notice.

“It started as something beautiful,” an NBC staffer told the Daily Mail in an article published Monday, February 23. “But now people are watching who’s participating — and who isn’t.”

One person who appears to have not worn a yellow ribbon in recent on-air appearances is NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Llamas, and that “didn’t go unnoticed,” a source claimed. “When everyone else is wearing one, the absence becomes louder than the symbol.”

While sources have said not to read too much into the wardrobe addition, another staffer said, “In a moment like this, symbolism is everything. If you’re not visibly with the team, people start asking why.”

“No one is accusing anyone of lacking compassion,” a producer added. “But in a high-profile newsroom built on image and unity, even small gestures can carry weight. The ribbons were meant to bring everyone together. Instead, they’ve exposed how closely people are watching.”

Hoda Kotb has been filling in for Savannah during the Guthrie family tragedy, and it is unknown as to if or when the longtime anchor will return.

According to the FBI, her mother “is considered to be a vulnerable adult who has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker, and needs daily medication for a heart condition.” Nancy is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds; she has brown hair and blue eyes.

Authorities have upped their reward to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy “and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.” An anonymous donor reportedly matched the reward amount, and now it stands at over $200,000.

Nancy was reported missing on February 1 by family members. There are still no suspects in the case; however, video footage released by authorities show a masked and “armed individual” appearing to tamper with the camera at Nancy’s front door the morning of her disappearance.

People with any information regarding the case are asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). You may also contact your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
