Gabby Petito’s Dad Reveals What Could Be ‘Frustrating’ for Savannah Guthrie Amid Mom Nancy’s Search

Gabby Petito’s father, Joseph Petito, is weighing in on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance almost five years after his daughter was reported missing and eventually found dead in Wyoming.

Petito, 46, appeared on Fox News on Thursday, February 12, amid the ongoing search for Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, who was last seen on January 31. Her whereabouts remain unknown.

When asked what he felt in August 2021, when Gabby — who was traveling with fiancé Brian Laundrie — was reported missing, Petito admitted, “To be honest, I don’t remember a lot of it. Everything was moving so fast.”

He said he hopes the Today anchor, 54, and her family are “taking their time and listening to each other and really trying to do what’s best in their situation, based on their own feeling and the information they have.”

“They’re the only ones that have all the information, or as much as possible,” he said of the Guthrie family. “I just hope they’re listening to what they feel is best.”

While Petito pointed out that “it’s humbling to see so many people try and help your family,” he also acknowledged that it can be “frustrating,” especially when so much information is circulating online.

“If someone does a bad report and doesn’t give accurate information, a lot of times, others will just copy and paste it,” Petito explained. “And next thing you know, something’s out there that’s just not true at all. So it can be frustrating at times. It can be humbling at the same time, but also scary and sad.”

Petito’s daughter was killed by Laundrie, who later died by suicide. He said he hopes this situation “ends with Nancy coming home safe and sound and whoever did this behind bars.”

According to the FBI, Nancy “is considered to be a vulnerable adult who has difficulty walking, has a pacemaker, and needs daily medication for a heart condition.”

She was reported missing on February 1 by family members and is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds; she has brown hair and blue eyes.

Law enforcement officials released new video footage earlier this week that shows an “armed individual” appearing to tamper with the camera at Nancy’s front door the morning of her disappearance, but they still don’t have a suspect. They have upped their reward to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy “and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.”
