Kathy Griffin Makes Disturbing Claims About ‘Extremely Violent’ Late Brother: ‘I Wanted to Kill Him’

Kathy Griffin is opening up about her eldest brother, Kenneth, who she claims was a pedophile and violent drug addict before his death.

In a recent episode of the comedian’s YouTube show Talk Your Head Off, Griffin discussed the tragic murders of Hollywood director Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, and how she can relate to growing up with a troubled family member.

The Reiners were found in their home on Sunday, December 14, with fatal stab wounds, and their son Nick Reiner, 32 — who was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia and has a history of substance abuse — has been charged in connection to the homicide.

“My eldest brother, Kenneth — who is now dead, thank God — was a crack addict,” Griffin, 65, began. “He lived on the streets, was extremely violent, so probably had an undiagnosed mental illness that obviously did not go well with crack cocaine. I can just tell you it was heartbreaking watching my parents, John and Maggie, try to save him his whole life.”

The My Life on the D-List alum said that she was 10 when Kenneth’s first wife told her that he would “beat her so badly that it was almost inconceivable.”

“He would beat her and then push her out of their apartment naked, and she would be locked out,” Griffin said, adding that a longtime girlfriend of Kenneth’s also claimed he was violent with her and would “beat her during the act of sex.”

That girlfriend, Griffin claimed, told her that Kenneth “was molesting one boy and one girl that she knew of.”

“Having your oldest brother be a pedophile is something that you don’t ever grow out of,” Griffin said. “You don’t get over it. I wanted to kill him because all I could think about were those children.”

The comedian said she would repeatedly call the Los Angeles Police Department to explain that Kenneth, who was a superintendent in an apartment building, was allegedly molesting two young children who lived there.

She claimed that the LAPD “would never do anything about it” and would tell her that the children needed to report the sexual abuse themselves or that her brother needed to confess.

“My father finally confronted him about it one time,” said Griffin, who noted that her parents “did not molest him” during his childhood so it couldn’t have been a trait he inherited nor replicated.

“One Christmas, I would not attend because Kenneth was going to be there,” she continued. “And my dad called Kenneth and said, ‘You know why Kathleen isn’t coming to Christmas? It’s because she really thinks you are a child molester.’ And do you know what my brother Kenneth’s response was? ‘I do what I do.’”

Circling back to the Reiners, Griffin said, “So when I see comments blaming Rob Reiner for not having enough security — he let the son live in their family home, as far as I know. … Don’t be an insensitive asshole and write s**t like that online or even your private Facebook because you’re an ignorant asshole if that’s how you think. There’s no blaming going on with Rob Reiner.”

According to the BBC, Nick’s attorney Alan Jackson told reporters on December 17, “We ask that during this process, you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward. Not with a rush to judgement, not with jumping to conclusions, but with restraint and with dignity, and with the respect that this system and this process deserves, and that the family deserves.”

Jackson declined to enter a plea for his client during their first court appearance. Nick is due back in court on January 7.
