More than 15 years ago, Josh Brolin was friendly with Donald Trump — and the actor believes he’s changed a lot.
The Avengers: Endgame star, 57, hung out with the future president, who appeared as himself in a deleted scene in Oliver Stone’s Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, in which Brolin stars as a villainous investment banker.
“I’m not scared of Trump, because even though he says he’s staying for ever, it’s just not going to happen,” Brolin told theIndependent in an interview published on Saturday, November 29.
“And if it does, then I’ll deal with that moment. But having been a friend of Trump before he was president, I know a different guy,” he added.
Though he didn’t endorse the president’s candidacy — and spoke out against him in a 2020 Instagram post, calling Trump, 79, a liar who created “hate and conspiracy in order to win” — the No Country For Old Men star shared praise for his old pal.
“There is no greater genius than him in marketing – he takes the weakness of the general population and fills it,” Brolin said. “And that’s why I think a lot of people feel that they have a mascot in him. I think it’s much less about Trump than it is about the general population and their need for validation.”
