Despite legislators claiming that renaming the Kennedy Center would require “legislative action,” the building already has new signs reflecting the change.

In photos obtained by National Enquirer, the signage on the outside of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts now reads “The Donald Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts,” with Trump’s name sitting above JFK’s.

The bold move comes just one day after the White House announced that the Trump-appointed board had voted to honor the current president.

“I have just been informed that the highly respected Board of the Kennedy Center, some of the most successful people from all parts of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center, because of the unbelievable work President Trump has done over the last year in saving the building,” Trump’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tweeted on Thursday, December 18.

“Not only from the standpoint of its reconstruction, but also financially, and its reputation,” she added. “Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this will be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur.”

The family of late President John F. Kennedy slammed the current administration’s controversial decision.

“President Kennedy proudly stood for justice, peace, equality, dignity, diversity, and compassion for those who suffer,” Kerry Kennedy, JFK’s niece, shared via X on Thursday, December 18. “President Trump stands in opposition to these values, and his name should not be placed alongside President Kennedy’s.”

Kennedy’s cousin, Maria Shriver, condemned the move as “downright weird.”

“It is beyond comprehension that this sitting president has sought to rename this great memorial dedicated to President Kennedy. It is beyond wild that he would think adding his name in front of President Kennedy’s name is acceptable. It is not,” Shriver added via Instagram on Thursday, December 18, calling on her “fellow Americans” to “wake up!”
