Joe Rogan is opening up about why his name appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files — and it all comes down to him refusing an invitation to meet the late, disgraced financier.

During the Tuesday, February 10, episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan sat down with guest Cheryl Hines in a three-hour-long interview. At one point, the two discussed the mounting Epstein files, prompting Rogan to explain his connection.

“I’m in the files for not going. Jeffrey Epstein was trying to meet with me. And I was like, ‘What?’” Rogan, 58, revealed.

The top-rated podcaster added that he was given the opportunity to meet with Epstein years ago through a guest who had appeared on his show.

“One of my guests was trying to get me to meet him. I was like, ‘Bh are you high? Like what the f**k are you talking about?’” Rogan told Hines.

Rogan said the indirect invitation occurred in 2017.

“I never would have went anyway,” Rogan explained. “It’s not even a possibility that I would have went, especially after I Googled him.”

Hines, 60, who is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., appeared to agree, asking, “Why would you?”

Rogan went on to share his theory that some people are drawn to powerful social circles, even without personal ambitions of joining them.

“Some people get intoxicated by being in a circle of rich and powerful people even if they don’t even have any ambitions of being one of those people. They just want to be around them. They want to be around Nobel Prize winners. And because this guy, what he was doing, was very clever in that he was getting all of these very powerful and very respected people together,” Rogan said.

“I would imagine you would go to these ‘cause it’s like, there’s people that went to these…He would bring all these people in and he’d like to be around all these famous people and entertainers and a lot of intellectuals, professors,” Rogan said. “So, it’s like, you would go, I guess, to these places and that was how he would convince everybody that everything was going to be fine.”

“It is weird. Some people are really driven by that,” Hines said, adding that she believes some people “really love the parties and the invitations.”

Rogan suggested he was glad he had looked into Epstein before considering any meeting.

“They’re willing to put aside all of the possibilities about what could be awful about these people and get together with them without even a cursory Google search as to who you’re hanging out with,” he said of those who chose to associate with Epstein.

“And it’s also probably a way that they can secure business deals and make sure that people do things they want to do. They have a little something over them to do a little of this, do a little bit of that,” he added of Epstein’s influence.

“For sure. I mean, that’s what Epstein was all about was manipulating people and um, you know, holding it over their head and getting them to do something,” Hines said, with her and Rogan adding “allegedly” to her comment.

“It certainly seems like that,” Rogan concluded.
