Reuters reported that Vance, 41, was part of a “Pakistani-brokered plan” which came “from intense overnight contacts and proposes an immediate ceasefire, followed by negotiations on a broader peace settlement to be concluded within 15 to 20 days,” according to a source that spoke to the outlet Monday, April 6.
The source explained Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, was in communication “all night long” with Vance, along with the United States Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

However, on Monday, a senior Iranian official told Reuters that a temporary ceasefire doesn’t include reopening the Strait of Hormuz and allegedly claimed that Washington was not ready for a permanent ceasefire.
Additionally, the official told the outlet Iran wasn’t bending to deadlines or pressure when it comes to making a deal.
The peace talks come after President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform on Saturday, April 4, and gave Iran a deadline to make a deal.

“Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT,” Trump, 79, penned. “Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them. Glory be to GOD! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
The commander-in-chief then told Axios on Sunday that the US and Iran are “in deep negotiations,” promoting a path to a deal before his Tuesday, April 7, deadline.
“There is a good chance, but if they don’t make a deal, I am blowing up everything over there,” Trump declared.
