Billy Ray Cyrus skipped daughter Miley Cyrus‘ Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling on Friday, May 22, because he wasn’t allowed to bring girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley, an insider tells the National Enquirer.
“Miley would have welcomed Billy Ray to attend if he’d been willing to come solo, but he refused so he wasn’t there, which was very sad, but it’s [also] very indicative of where things are at with Miley and her dad right now,” explains the insider. “She wants to be a part of his life. She has so much love for him, but she’s also not ready to make Liz part of the family.”
Miley, 33, may not have a choice, though.
“Billy Ray is not letting this go by without making a major fuss,” the insider reveals. “He says Liz is the woman he plans to marry and Miley owes her more respect.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, a source says Miley won’t be inviting Hurley, 60, to her and Maxx Morando‘s wedding, either, in order to avoid making mom Tish Cyrus uncomfortable.
“Miley is always going to side with her mom,” notes the insider. “So until that dynamic is resolved, it’s doubtful there will be any huge bond between Miley and Liz.”
Back in April, Hurley got to watch the country music singer, 64, perform “On Our Way Along” with son Braison Cyrus, 31, and daughter Noah Cyrus, 26, at Stagecoach in Indio, California.
“Noah and Braison are much more openly on Billy Ray’s side in this, so it’s telling they were not at the event either,” the insider says of Miley’s star ceremony.
