Truck Crashes Into Starbucks Drive-Thru, Injuring Worker
A Starbucks in Washington state was forced to close after a driver crashed his pickup truck into the drive-thru, police said.
The Moses Lake Police Department said officers responded to a crash at a Starbucks location off Kittleson Road shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday.
According to police, witness reports and “evidence on the roadway” showed that 61-year-old Gregery Kaufmann, who was allegedly wearing headphones while driving, “overaccelerated” his 1984 pickup truck coming off Maiers Road onto Kittleson Road. He allegedly fishtailed several times before “losing control” and crashing into the Starbucks drive-thru. He then reversed away from the building before coming to a stop.
At least one employee inside the Starbucks was injured, police said. Kaufmann was not injured. The Starbucks was forced to close for at least the rest of the day.
Kaufmann allegedly “told officers he was screwing around, although he used a different word for it,” police said. He was cited for reckless driving.
