An insider says Tommy Lee Jones “might never recover from” the death of his only daughter Victoria, who was found dead of a suspected drug overdose on New Year’s Day in San Francisco.
As the National Enquirer previously reported, a source says Victoria, 34, had a history with substances and although first responders desperately tried to revive her with CPR at the famed Fairmont Hotel, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It’s hit him like a ton of bricks and this isn’t the kind of loss that you can set aside by diving back into work as a distraction,” the source says of Jones, who shares Victoria and her brother Austin, 43, with ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley.

Much like the characters he plays on- screen, “Tommy Lee is known for not being the friendliest or most affable Hollywood actor,” the insider admits, but “as famously grumpy as he can be, his ambition to go [do] great work is still the thing that gets him out of bed in the morning.”
When the Oscar-winning actor returns to work full-time, notes the insider, that will be “the real signal that [he’s] experienced some measure of healing after this totally unexpected tragedy.”
While “that simply hasn’t happened yet,” says the insider, “the people who love his incredible filmography and helped him make the many classics he has been involved in know that he loves being on a set and pushing himself as an actor and a filmmaker.”
