Suspect In $13,000 Pokémon Theft Found Armed, Wanted On Warrants ‘Across The Country’
Police investigating the theft of a $13,000 Pokémon card in California the suspect is in custody and is wanted on outstanding warrants “across the country.”
The Santa Clara Police Department said the investigation began on June 22 when officers responded to a reported robbery on the 3000 block of Rivermark Plaza. They arrived to find a “valuable Pokémon card estimated at $13,000” had been stolen.
Through a “comprehensive investigation,” detectives identified a suspect and learned they were wanted on outstanding warrants in multiple jurisdictions across the country.
The suspect was ultimately located and taken into custody on July 15. Officers recovered two firearms from the suspect’s vehicle, including a Glock pistol and an AK-style rifle, and a large quantity of cash.
Police said the suspect, whose identity was not immediately released, was arrested along with another individual “connected to the vehicle.”
