Stephen Colbert Admits ‘Late Show’ Cancellation Is Finally Starting To ‘Feel Real’
Stephen Colbert says the end of his Late Show in just four months is now sinking in.
“It feels real now,” the talk show host, 61, said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, January 27. “It did not feel… I mean, I know it was real, but now, there’s four months left.”
According to Deadline, the final episode of The Late Show will air on May 21.
“Listen, you can do comedy in a lot of different places, [but] there’s no place like the Ed Sullivan Theater,” Colbert told host Seth Meyers, referring to the New York City venue where his show is filmed. “But it’s really the people. That’s really what I care about. That’s really what I’m going to miss more than anything.”
As the National Enquirer previously reported, it was first announced in July that Colbert’s show, which debuted in 2015, would be coming to an end.
In an interview with People in September, Colbert vowed to “savor every day” until the close.
