Proud CBP K9 Finds Haul Of Raw Meat, Bengal Lizard In Luggage Arriving From Thailand
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) K9 was very pleased with herself for finding 16 pounds of Bengal monitor lizard parts, 50 pounds of meat and 33 pounds of produce in a suitcase in Los Angeles, officials said.
The CBP Office of Field Operations this week shared a photo of CBP K9 Maisy proudly posing alongside the haul of contraband found in luggage arriving from Thailand at an unspecified Los Angeles Port of Entry.
“If you discovered all this in a suitcase, wouldn’t you be this happy?” CBP wrote alongside the photo.
Officials said the luggage from Thailand contained 50 pounds of meat, including raw meat, and 33 pounds of mangoes, garlic, bamboo and banana plants.
The haul also included 16 pounds of Bengal monitor lizard, which was turned over to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
