Authorities in California said they have received new videos that offer a lead into a boat collision that severely injured a woman in an inner tube last month.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday shared images of the suspect boat after receiving videos from community members in connection with a boat crash that occurred on June 20 on the Colorado River, just north of the Needles Bridge.
Deputies from the department’s Marine Enforcement Unit responded to the crash at around 7 p.m. on June 20 and arrived to find the victim had been struck by a boat while floating down the river in an inner tube. The victim sustained “major injuries” in the collision, and was transported by air ambulance to a hospital in Las Vegas.
After reviewing videos submitted by community members, investigators say they show the boat responsible for injuring the victim. Now they are seeking the public’s help identifying and locating the boat’s operator.
Anyone with information about the boat or its operator is asked to contact Corporal B. Abell at 760-326-9200 or submit an anonymous tip by calling or texting “REPORT” to the WE-TIP HOTLINE at (844) 909-3006.
