Critics of the NFL’s choice to select superstar Bad Bunny to perform during the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show are putting their support behind a different artist.

A petition on Change.org has surfaced in an effort to replace Bad Bunny, 31, with country music legend George Strait.

“The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the most watched music performances worldwide, celebrating not just the sport but the cultural tapestry of America,” the petition reads. “In recent years, this performance has leaned increasingly towards modern pop and international artists. While this approach certainly broadens the audience, it’s pivotal to remember the roots that have made American music what it is today.”

Bad Bunny, a native of Puerto Rico — which is a territory of the United States – sings primarily in Spanish, and encouraged NFL viewers to learn Spanish before the big event during his hosting appearance on Saturday Night Live earlier this month.

“The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt,” the petition continues. “Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage. Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.”

While it’s unclear if Strait, 73, is available for the February 8, 2026, event — or if he’s even interested in taking center stage — more than 35,000 of his fans have signed the petition in favor of the swap.

At the end of the day, the petition could reach millions of signatures, but the decision remains in the hands of Jay-Z, his company Roc Nation and the NFL.
