Pentagon Reveals Nuclear Sub Location as President Trump Claims Iran Ceasefire Is on ‘Life Support’

The Pentagon made the unusual decision to reveal the location of a U.S. nuclear-armed submarine just one day after President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal.

Per a Monday, May 11 report from The Hill, the U.S. Navy confirmed that an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine had arrived in Gibraltar, a British territory located on Spain’s southern coast.

The U.S. Sixth Fleet said in a written statement that the visit demonstrates America’s “capability, flexibility and continuing commitment” to NATO allies.

The military did not publicly identify the submarine — a rare move given that the locations of nuclear-armed submarines are typically kept highly classified for national security reasons, the outlet reported.

Ohio-class submarines are considered among the military’s most secretive and powerful weapons because they can launch nuclear ballistic missiles while remaining virtually undetectable, according to The Hill.

The announcement comes as tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to escalate.

Per the outlet, Trump, 79, told reporters Monday that the fragile ceasefire with Iran is currently on “life support” and described the situation as “unbelievably weak.”

Iran reportedly demanded war reparations, sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and an end to U.S. sanctions as part of a counteroffer.

Trump previously slammed the proposal as “totally unacceptable,” per The Hill.
