Paris Jackson is reflecting on a past romance that she used as inspiration for her new song, “Zombies in Love.”

The haunting tune, which the “let down” singer, 27, co-wrote with Linda Perry was released on March 19. Days later, Paris shared the meaning behind the song with fans.

“It’s kind of about, well, what all of my songs are about, which is either like drugs or boys or in this case, both,” Paris — the daughter of the late legendary pop singer Michael Jacksonshared in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, March 24. “It’s about a relationship that I was in over half a decade ago.”

Admitting at the time, Paris considered the unnamed person the “love” of her “life,” she continued: “We had a very, you know, toxic, drug-fueled relationship and you know, it’s something that I still dip back into that well to get some ink for my pen when I’m writing, because it’s just an endless well of material that I can pull from because there’s a lot of feelings.”

“That’s what like, kind of half my record is about, it’s what’s my entire first record was about. It’s [about] feelings and getting through it, getting out on the other side,” the model explained. “It’s really cool to be able to look back on it with sober hindsight and kind of seeing that for what it was.”

As the National Enquirer previously reported, Paris — who split from music producer Justin Long in November 2025 — celebrated six years of sobriety in January, marking the milestone with a poignant message shared on Instagram.

“Getting sober ain’t always the indication that life is perfect,” she wrote, adding: “I had to learn to live life on life’s terms.”

According to NME, Paris is believed to be releasing a second album later this year.
