She’s six years sober, but Paris Jackson is still taking it one day at a time. To celebrate her milestone, the 27-year-old daughter of the late Michael Jacksonposted a thoughtful message about hard times on social media. “Getting sober ain’t always the indication that life is perfect,” the singer wrote. “A few years in it all got very very hard. For what felt like an eternity. And I didn’t have the same survival skills I was used to having to cope.”

It’s been a tough year for Paris, whose engagement to music producer Justin Long ended in July. She also shared that she’s been battling a depressive disorder and other mental health issues.
In November, the model/actress revealed that her longtime drug use — presumably cocaine — had left her with a hole in her nose. “Don’t do drugs, kids,” she said on TikTok after showing off the hole in her septum. (She became an IV user at age 15 and has attempted suicide more than once before getting clean.) She’s proud of her sobriety, saying, “I didn’t just get my life back. I got a better one.”
