According to a report from Axios published on Tuesday, May 26, the former attorney general was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after she was fired by PresidentDonald Trump in early April.
Bondi, 60, underwent treatment for the condition, and is now recovering. However, details about the situation are scarce.
Stephen Miller‘s wife, Katie Miller, also confirmed the news when she posted a message on X on Tuesday saying that Bondi “has been quietly kicking cancer’s ass the last few weeks.”
The news of Bondi’s diagnosis broke the same day it was announced that Trump, 79, had appointed her to a new position on an advisory committee that is focused on AI policy.
Hours later, she was axed, and the Apprentice alum confirmed the news in a post he shared on Truth Social.
“Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900,” Trump wrote, adding that Bondi would be “transitioning into a much needed and important new job in the private sector.”
