An official trailer has been released for the imaginative family comedy “Sketch,” starring Tony Hale and DArcy Carden.

“Sketch” debuted at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival to critical praise, and film & TV platform Angel announced at CinemaCon this year that it entered a deal with Wonder Project and UTAs Independent Film Group to secure worldwide distribution rights.

“SKETCH is the kind of film that begs to be seen on the big screen,” said Brandon Purdie, EVP & Head of Theatrical at Angel. “Seth Worleys bold vision and genre-blending storytelling create a thrilling, deeply entertaining ride for all ages — one that transports audiences in a way only cinema can. This is the perfect summer movie: fun, fresh, and made to be devoured in a cinema with popcorn.”

Starring Emmy Award-winning actor Tony Hale (“Veep,” “Arrested Development”) and DArcy Carden (“The Good Place,” “Barry”), the film is written and directed by Seth Worley. “Sketch” is Worley’s debut feature, after gaining recognition for his short films, commercials, and explainer videos including “Plot Device” (2011) and “Old/New: Narrated by Patton Oswalt” (2015).

Worley has described the film as “‘Jurassic Park’ meets ‘Inside Out’,” with widowed father (Hale) and protective Aunt Liz (Carden) helping his two children, played by Bianca Belle and Kue Lawrence, after her drawings come to life.

“When a 10-year-old girls sketchbook takes a dip in a mysterious forest pond, her comically imaginative drawings spring to life, and theyre not exactly friendly,” the film’s logline reads. “As these scribbled monsters wreak havoc, its up to her family to come together, face the madness, and somehow save the day.”

“I’m so glad that Seth Worley’s unforgettable vision will be coming to the big screen, and I’m grateful to our friends and partners at Angel for making this dream a reality,” said Jon Erwin, founder of Wonder Project and executive producer of SKETCH.

The film is produced by Steve Taylor, Tony Hale, Kevin Downes, Daryl Lefever, and Katelyn Botsch, with executive producers Andrew Erwin, Tony Young, Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt and Sean Devereaux.

“Sketch” will release in theaters Aug. 6, 2025.
