Kristi Noem Reflects on Her Time as DHS Secretary After Being Fired by President Trump
Kristi Noem is saying farewell to her job as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), after President Donald Trump fired her earlier this month.
On Tuesday, March 24, the former Governor of South Dakota, 54, took to X on her last day to share a statement.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the 8th Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security,” Noem penned. “I want to thank President Trump for entrusting me to lead the department leading the fight to Make America Safe Again.”
The politician then listed some statistics she claimed to have achieved in her role, alleging, “In one year, the patriots at DHS delivered the MOST secure border in American history, 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S., located 145,000 unaccompanied children, delivered disaster relief at a 100% faster rate, ushered in the golden age of travel, saved the American taxpayer $13 billion, and revitalized the U.S. Coast Guard.”
Regarding her new position, Noem said, “As Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, I will build on the years of national security expertise I forged during my time as Secretary of Homeland Security, Governor of South Dakota, and Congresswoman on the House Armed Services Committee.”
As the National Enquirer previously reported, Noem testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 3 and the House Judiciary Committee on March 4, during which many members of Congress condemned her overall mismanagement of DHS.
At one point, Noem claimed under oath that the commander-in-chief, 79, approved her $220 million ad campaign, but on Thursday, March 5, Trump told Reuters, “I never knew anything about it.”
That same day, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that he was replacing Noem with Republican United States Senator Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma. He was sworn into his cabinet position on Tuesday.
