Kristi Noem may have lost her love interest, as well as her cabinet position.

Her longtime rumored romance with Corey Lewandowski — who worked with her in an unofficial capacity at the Department of Homeland Security — is over now that she is no longer in charge of the government agency, Rob Shuter reported in his Naughty But Nice Substack on Thursday, March 12.

“The relationship was always about power,” a Washington insider told Shuter. “Without the job and the access, Corey isn’t interested anymore.”

“Corey loves proximity to power,” the insider explained. “When Kristi had it, he was glued to her. Now that she doesn’t, he’s gone.”

President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager’s role at DHS had been raising eyebrows, Shuter noted, amid reports that he bragged about “operating with total freedom.”

“He told people he could do whatever he wanted because Trump would pardon him,” one source noted, referring to a report in the New York Post on Wednesday, March 11.

Lewandowski, 52, denied it, telling the Post, “Never said that. Never asked for a pardon and have no reason to receive one.”

However, NBC News reported on Tuesday, March 10 that Trump, 79, had become concerned about his former aide’s involvement in the $220 million federal advertising campaign for DHS that featured Noem, 54, as well as his role in issuing government contracts.

As the National Enquirer previously reported, the pair —who are married to other people — have been rumored to be having an affair since her time as the governor of South Dakota, which they’ve both denied.

On Wednesday, March 4, Noem was asked if she “had sexual relations with Corey Lewandowski” while testifying before the House Judiciary Committee.

“I am shocked we’re going down and peddling tabloid garbage in this committee,” Noem responded.
