K-9 Finds Suspect 20 Feet Up In Tree After Fleeing allegedly Stolen BMW
When three suspects fled an allegedly stolen vehicle in Oregon last week, a K-9 found them all, including one who hid 20 feet up in a tree, authorities said.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 2:40 a.m. on Aug. 26, a deputy attempted to pull over a black sedan on Highway 26 near NW Jackson School Road for speeds in excess of 100 mph.
The driver fled eastbound, but within minutes, another deputy spotted the vehicle heading south on SW 185th Avenue. That deputy also attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled.
As additional deputies responded to the area, the vehicle, identified as a stolen 2015 BMW 335, was spotted turning onto SW 188th Court and entering an apartment complex.
As deputies approached, three people ran from the vehicle. Deputies established a perimeter while waiting for a K-9 team to respond. When Corporal Terry and K-9 Griff began tracking, they quickly found the first two suspects on a nearby porch.
Griff soon found the third suspect hiding 20 feet up in a tree, and deputies used a drone to pinpoint the suspect’s exact location. After about 45 minutes, the suspect agreed to come down and was taken into custody.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Cairo Truth, was arrested for attempting to elude, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The two passengers, both 19, were issued citations and released.
