Justin Bieber and Usher reportedly had a heated exchange when they both attended Jay-Z and Beyonce’s Oscars after-party earlier this month, and a new report claimed the blowup has been bubbling below the surface for years.
“This didn’t start that night. It’s been simmering for a long time,” a source told Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack on Sunday, March 22. “Justin feels like he’s finally seeing things clearly and he does not like what he sees.”
The source added that their argument was “about years of built-up feelings,” and for the “Love Yourself” artist, 32, it’s “deeply personal.”
TMZ reported on March 19 that the “You Make Me Wanna” singer approached Bieber with “energy and anger” at the event, but details about the exchange remain sparse. There have been no reports regarding whether or not the cops were called, but the outlet stated that there was no physical contact between the two men.
“Usher brought him into that world when he was just a kid,” the source explained. “Justin trusted him to look out for him and now he feels like that did not happen. He is not that teenager anymore. He is looking back with very different eyes, and some of those realizations are painful.”

Combs, 56, previously faced allegations of sexual assault, trafficking and abuse in multiple civil lawsuits, which he has denied, and was criminally charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The allegations initially led some to believe that Combs had previously assaulted Bieber, but the “Baby” singer denied anything ever occurred between him and the Bad Boys Record founder.
“Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him,” Bieber’s spokesperson said in a statement obtained by People in May 2025. “Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”
Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and later sentenced to more than four years in prison.
