Jimmy Kimmel made jabs at CBS and President Donald Trump when he presented at the Oscars on Sunday, March 15.
“We hear a lot about courage at shows like this, but telling a story that could get you killed for telling is real courage,” the late night host, 58, said while presenting the award for Best Documentary Short.
“As you know there are some countries whose leaders don’t support free speech. I’m not at liberty to say which. Let’s just leave it at North Korea and CBS,” he joked, in a subtle nod to the network that canceled his friendStephen Colbert’s late night show.

“Fortunately for all of us, there’s an international community of filmmakers dedicated to telling the truth, oftentimes at great risk to make films that teach us, that call out injustice, that inspire us to take action, and there are documentaries where you walk around the White House trying on shoes,” Kimmel added, making a subtle jab at Melania Trump’s eponymous documentary.
Moment later, before announcing the winner for Best Documentary, the comedian quipped, “Oh man is he going to be mad his wife wasn’t nominated for this.”
As the National Enquirer previously reported, sources claim the president believes the first lady should be nominated for her film.
