Hunter Biden is reportedly living outside of the United States, roughly one year after his father, former president Joe Biden, left office after one term.
According to People, his attorney, Barry Coburn, mentioned “Mr. Biden lives abroad” in a court filing on April 6. Per the outlet, the attorney declined to elaborate further on where Hunter, 56, is choosing to live now that his dad is out of office and President Donald Trumppublicly pulled his Secret Service detail.
Hunter has ties to South Africa and mentioned in a November episode of the Wide Awake podcast that he was splitting a lot of his time between the United States and Cape Town, South Africa.

“When all of the political and personal stuff came to an end in the last six months, I had always promised that we would spend some time over here,” Hunter said.
Hunter also explained that, while the house he rented in Malibu, California, did not burn down in the wildfire that ripped through the city last year, everything around it did. As a result, he couldn’t go back to the States if he wanted to right now.
While it’s unclear if he took up permanent residence in South Africa, he stated he has a place to live there with his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, who is originally from that country.
However, Hunter is not necessarily avoiding the United States: He joined the former president and the rest of their family in Santa Ynez, California earlier this month to celebrate the Easter holiday.
