Florida Men Allegedly Sold Stolen Cattle Fencing, Railroad Ties On Facebook, Additional Victims Sought
Authorities in Florida are searching for victims who may be “missing a fence” after two men were arrested for allegedly stealing fencing and reselling it on Facebook Marketplace.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that license plate readers alerted detectives that a pair of suspected cattle fence thieves had entered the area of DeLeon Springs. Detectives “interrupted” their activity and placed them under arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office, 45-year-old Thaddeus Lomax and 55-year-old Michael Ferguson have allegedly been stealing fencing in the areas of DeLeon Springs and DeLand then reselling it on Facebook Marketplace.
After their arrest, detectives recovered “even more” stolen fencing and railroad ties than known victims have reported missing, so now they are looking for additional victims.
