Female Paraglider Escapes Death After Plane Wing Sliced Her Sailing Chute in Half
Stunning photos show the terrifying moments a paragliding gal narrowly escaped a horrifying death when a plane’s wing just missed chopping her head off as it sliced her sailing chute in half.
Incredibly, the quick-thinking 44-year-old woman identified as Sabrina T managed to open a reserve parachute and avoid plunging to her death into a scenic wooded valley in the Austrian Alps near Salzburg, according to NBC News.
A chilling video shared to Instagram catches the instant when out of the clear blue sky, the Cessna 172 plane suddenly roars into view and clips the woman, sending her spiraling out of control.
Instead of panicking, cool-headed Sabrina deploys her reserve chute, which slows her fall to a rough landing, as she sighs: “I’m still alive — that’s the main thing.”
Amazingly, she only suffered bruises.
Meanwhile, Salzburg police say the 28-year-old plane pilot claimed “he was unable to take evasive action in time resulting in the collision with the paraglider,” according to NBC.
