Donald Trump Jr. is already thinking beyond his father’s second term — and insiders say his recent wedding is part of the plan.
According to Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Monday, May 25, Trump Jr., 48, is quietly positioning himself for a future presidential run, with sources close to the family revealing that his marriage to Bettina Anderson was as much about political strategy as it was about love.

“Don Jr. thinks being married makes him look more presidential,” one insider told Shuter. “He understands the Republican base. This wasn’t just personal — politically, he sees it as an asset.”
The pair legally married in a private ceremony in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday, May 21. As the National Enquirer previously reported, Don Jr. and Anderson downsized their Washington DC wedding plans in favor of an intimate wedding celebration on a private island in the Bahamas.

But there’s already a cloud hanging over the ambition. President Donald Trump did not attend the wedding — a decision that, per the report, has sparked intense speculation inside MAGA circles about whether the elder Trump would ultimately support his son’s bid for the White House.
“People inside the family are asking the same question,” another source told Shuter. “If Trump couldn’t show up for one of the biggest days of his son’s life, how enthusiastic would he really be about backing a presidential campaign?”

Per the Naughty But Nice report, the 2028 GOP landscape is already getting crowded. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are quietly building support behind the scenes, setting up what insiders describe as a growing power struggle.
“Nobody is waiting their turn anymore,” a Republican insider told Shuter. “Vance has the ideological MAGA base, Rubio has establishment donors, and Don Jr. has the Trump name. It’s becoming a real fight.”
Still, sources claim that the president’s son has no intention of stepping aside. “He’s moving like someone who fully expects to run one day,” the insider added. “The only question is whether his father ultimately sees him as an heir — or competition.”
