Big-hearted pizza delivery guy Dan Simpson got an incredible tip after going an extra mile to get customers some diet sodas to go with their pies.
The amazing cash-explosion came after 68-year-old Dan, who’s been delivering for a Domino’s Pizza eatery in Boise, Idaho, as a second job for 14 years, tried to call Brian and Katey Wilson to tell them they’d run out of Diet Cokes, the Daily Mail reported.
The call went unanswered so Dan, who also worked at the Idaho Department of Agriculture and was retiring in a month, stopped by a grocery and bought two bottles of the soda out of his own pocket.
The Wilsons only had $6 for a tip and asked how they could give more, but Dan said that was fine, assuring the pair, “It’s a good tip!”
“On the surface, it probably looked like such a small gesture,” explains Brian. “But to us, it felt like so much more than that. What Dan didn’t know is that my wife and I are both visually impaired, so running out to the store for a ‘quick’ pickup is not something that is simple or easy for us. What may have seemed like a tiny inconvenience to solve on his end actually made a huge difference on ours.”
