Legendary comedian Robert Klein will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at this summers Borscht Belt Fest, the annual celebration of Catskills comedy and culture returning to Ellenville, N.Y., July 26–27.
Now in its third year, the two-day festival serves as the marquee event for the Borscht Belt Museum, spotlighting the regions storied history as a “unique 20th century Jewish vacationland” and hub for entertainers and civil rights leaders. The festival has grown into a major summer draw for audiences spanning generations.
This years lineup includes Emmy-winning writer and comedian Josh Gondelman, who will headline the weekend and present Klein with his award. Also performing will be Elon Gold (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”), comedian Sarge, and more than 30 other entertainers.
Klein, who spent childhood summers in the Catskills and launched his career at iconic venues such as the Concord and Kutshers, will also participate in a special Q&A on Saturday night.
“Were thrilled to welcome Josh Gondelman, Robert Klein and our entire lineup to Borscht Belt Fest 2025,” said Andrew Jacobs, board president of the Borscht Belt Museum. “They embody the spirit and legacy of the Catskills we celebrate.”
In addition to stand-up comedy, the weekend will feature panels with author Gary Shteyngart, children of legendary Catskills performers, late-night TV writers, and New Yorker illustrators. The festival will also include art workshops, live music, a story slam, a rugelach-making contest, and a street fair featuring local artisans and traditional Jewish food.
The 2024 festival drew more than 8,000 visitors from across the Hudson Valley, the Catskills and the New York metro area. This years outdoor events will once again be free and open to the public, while tickets for indoor events are available for purchase in advance. The event is made possible in part by the UJA-Federation of New York.
