Coast Guard Detains 24 Suspected Aliens Offshore California
The U.S. Coast Guard found 24 suspected aliens aboard a vessel offshore California and took them into custody, officials said.
At around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal spotted a 28-foot cuddy cabin vessel about three miles south of Santa Barbara Island, and launched a boarding crew to investigate.
The boarding team boarded the vessel at approximately 12:10 a.m. Sunday, and detained 24 suspected aliens.
All 24 individuals were transported to Newport Harbor, where they were transferred to U.S. Border Patrol agents for processing.
