Things got a little tense on The View when Cheryl Hinesclashed with host Sunny Hostin regarding her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s qualifications as the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
“The problem, respectfully, is that your husband is the least qualified Department of Health and Human Services head that we have had in history,” Hostin, 56, said during the Tuesday, October 14, episode of The View.
“Why is he less qualified than an economist?” Hines, 60, shot back. “How is that possible? He has spent his career studying toxins, studying people’s health.”
When Hostin insisted that Kennedy, 71, had “spread a lot of misinformation” and pointed out that he has “connected circumcision to autism,” Hines became visibly irritated, and asked, “May I finish?”
As the conversation continued, Joy Behar eventually stepped in and said that it “wasn’t fair” to put Hines “on the spot” because she was married to Kennedy. However, Behar, 83, didn’t hold back from criticizing Kennedy for “casting doubt on the efficacy” of vaccines.
“Yes, to vaccines, yes they are important and an important part of our healthcare,” Hines continued. “Can we do better? Can we make them safer? Can we listen to parents who say my child got the vaccine and changed and stopped hitting markers, stopped developing the way they were developing?”

As the women continued to argue, Whoopi Goldberg added, “I do want to say, you know he’s not a doctor and he’s not a professional? And oftentimes, when he’s speaking, he’s speaking not with the best information.”
While the hosts and Hines didn’t necessarily come to an agreement on their stances, Behar managed to lighten the mood just a little.
“Can we clear one thing before you go?” she asked Hines. “Does he or does he not have a brain worm?”
The Curb Your Enthusiasm alum replied with a smile and said, “It ate just a little bit of his brain and died, so don’t worry!”
