The two women have been at odds ever since Erika’s husband, Charlie Kirk, was fatally shot in front of a crowd of people in September last year. Owens, 37, was close with Charlie before his death, and she quickly began questioning the events of his murder, lashing out at Erika, also 37, and more.
Earlier this month, the preliminary hearing was held for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing Charlie, and Erika attended the hearing. There were also several podcasters and livestreamers outside the courthouse who continued to perpetuate unfounded theories about Charlie’s death.
Owens has been one of the biggest mouthpieces when it comes to questioning the specifics of Charlie’s murder.
“Candace decided to make this her identity. It’s a grab for attention, building her name and her brand, and making some money off it,” an insider who claimed to be close to the Kirk family told the Daily Mail in an article published on Monday, July 20. “At least with her political opponents, she knew where she stood. They didn’t exactly betray her like Candace did. Candace did her so dirty.”
As the National Enquirer previously reported, when Erika sat down for a CBS town hall in December 2025, she was asked what she would want to say to Owens and “other people that are putting these lies out into the world.”
“Stop,” Erika replied with a sharp stare. “That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
However, two months later, Owens released an 8-episode series called The Bride of Charlie, and took aim at Erika again — this time speculating about the potential of her having a role in Charlie’s death.

“That bridge is burned, it’s more than burned. It’s been blown up. There’s no reason for Erika to ever speak to Candace again. Ever,” the insider told the Daily Mail, noting that it’s offensive “that Candace would use her husband’s death to make a buck, to get attention, get clout, whatever it is.”
However, Owens fired back with a statement of her own to the Daily Mail.
“We’re furious too,” Owens told the outlet. “The public cannot stand that Erika refuses to answer or even ask crucial questions surrounding Charlie’s death, which she has treated more like her personal coronation rather than an increasingly bizarre story that requires a network of paid influencers to support it.”
Charlie was shot in the neck during the first stop of his American Comeback Tour on September 10, 2025. He was transported to a local hospital but eventually succumbed to his injuries. Roughly 36 hours after Charlie died, Robinson, 23, turned himself into police.
The preliminary hearing for Robinson concluded on July 10, and the judge is expected to make a decision on whether or not the case will continue to trial on September 1. He has yet to enter a plea.
