Border Patrol Agents Rescue 8 Foreigners Trapped Inside Hot Train Car In Texas
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said Border Patrol agents in in Texas recently rescued several individuals who were locked inside a hot train car as part of an alleged human smuggling operation.
Border Patrol agents were conducting train inspections on a rail siding near Knippa on the afternoon of Aug. 30 when a canine alerted to a stationary autorack train car carrying vehicles. An inspection of the freight car revealed eight people, including a child, locked inside “with no means of escape.”
“Alien smugglers have no regard for those they prey upon,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott” Good. “Temperatures in this area exceed 100 degrees daily. Were it not for the actions of our highly trained agents, this situation could have had a tragic outcome.”
All eight individuals, including three Mexican nationals, three Salvadorans, one Guatemalan and one Chinese national, were transported to the Uvalde Border Patrol Station for processing.
