The Atlanta Police Department on Thursday released body-worn camera video that shows officers entering a burning home to evacuate multiple people.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on March 7, Zone 6 officers were at a gas station when they were flagged down to report a residential fire at nearby 329 Hill Street SE. Video shows officers approaching the burning home, with several residents already outside.

Officers entered the home and urged multiple people remaining inside to leave the building. Smoke could be seen filling the home, and the door to one closed room was engulfed in flames.

After clearing the home, officers were told there was still one person inside, and they re-entered the home to find them “without regard for their own safety,” police said.

“Thanks to the brave actions of these officers, all residents were safely escorted away from the fire,” police said.

One officer was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
