A prison transport crash in the remote Alaskan wilderness sparks chaos in upcoming Apple TV+ action drama “The Last Frontier,” debuting Oct. 10.
The 10-episode series comes from co-creators Jon Bokenkamp (“The Blacklist”) and Richard DOvidio (“The Call”) and stars and is executive produced by Jason Clarke (“Zero Dark Thirty”). It will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with two episodes on Oct. 10, followed by new episodes every Friday through Dec. 5.
“The Last Frontier” follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal responsible for a rugged stretch of Alaska whose quiet jurisdiction is upended when a prison transport plane crashes in the wilderness, releasing dozens of violent inmates. As he works to protect the town hes sworn to keep safe, Remnick begins to suspect the crash was no accident but part of a carefully orchestrated plan with devastating implications.
A teaser trailer released Thursday shows prisoners in orange jumpsuits and shackles aboard a quiet nighttime flight when a sudden explosion sends the plane diving into snow-covered wilderness.
The ensemble cast includes Dominic Cooper (“The Gold”), Haley Bennett (“The Magnificent Seven”), Simone Kessell (“Yellowjackets”), Dallas Goldtooth (“Reservation Dogs”), and Tait Blum (“For All Mankind”), alongside Academy Award nominee and multi-Emmy winner Alfre Woodard (“Clemency”).
Produced by Apple Studios, the series is executive produced by Bokenkamp and DOvidio, who also serve as writers, along with Clarke, Laura Benson (“The Big C”), Glenn Kessler (“Bloodlines”), Albert Kim (“Nikita”) and episodic director Sam Hargrave (“Extraction”).
