Hollywood has seen its fair share of red carpet debuts — but this one hit a little harder.

More than two years after Aaron Carter’s death, his 3-year-old son, Prince Carter, stepped out for his very first red carpet moment.

On Wednesday, April 9, the late singer’s former fiancée, Melanie Martin, shared photos capturing the milestone on Instagram, showing the mother-son duo at the premiere of The Carters: Hurts to Love You. The documentary, which explores the Carter family’s history, includes details about Aaron’s struggles with childhood trauma, mental health, and addiction.

In one of the pictures, Martin — dressed in a gray turtleneck dress — wrapped her arms around Prince, who’s rocking a tiny leather jacket over a Batman shirt, complete with his dad’s signature blond hair. In the next snap, Prince was all smiles in the arms of his aunt, Aaron’s twin sister Angel Carter Conrad.

“Prince and I went to the premiere of ‘The Carters: Hurts to Love You,’” the single mom wrote. “The documentary was so beautifully done, and it shattered my heart as it highlighted his childhood abuse and the crushing price that comes with being a child star… It was so deeply meaningful to have Prince there with me.”

Aaron, who was the younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, died on November 5, 2022 — he was 34. His cause of death was ruled an accidental drowning, with effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam noted in the autopsy, according to records from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Not long after posting, reactions began pouring into the comments section of Martin’s post.

“Oh man, this will be a hard watch for sure 😢❤️,” one person wrote.

“RIP Aaron. I’m so sorry for your loss Mel. Aaron was a great person and artist. I listen to his music still to this day,” another shared.

Others couldn’t get over how much Prince looks like the “I Want Candy” singer.

“Little Prince is 100% mini Carter boy, bless him 😍🙌,” someone commented.

“He looks so much like Aaron! Lil reincarnate,” chimed in another.

Aaron and Martin first went public with their relationship in early 2020 and got engaged later that year. The couple’s relationship was on and off for the next two years, before officially calling it quits in February 2022.
