Zendaya‘s professional and personal success is fueling fresh tension between her and Sydney Sweeney, a source tells the National Enquirer.
The Odyssey continues to break box office records long after its July 17 release date and Zendaya’s latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has made over $2 billion in global ticket sales, per Variety. The actress, 29, also recently tied the knot with longtime love Tom Holland.
“It’s got to be hard for Sydney because Zendaya has gone to a new stratosphere,” reveals the source. “[She and Tom] have achieved total superstardom and everyone, including Sydney, can see that.”
“She’s out there hustling and working hard and insisting that her lingerie brand will be a huge success in time,” says the source. “But there’s no doubt seeing Zendaya achieving so much is a bitter pill to swallow.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, the icy relationship between the former Euphoria costars goes way back.
“It’s no secret Sydney and Zendaya were not on good terms when they wrapped the show,” notes the source. “Sydney made a point to post photos with all the cast members that she’s friendly with and Zendaya was conspicuously left out. Anyone that was doubting all the rumors about bad blood between them were pretty much silenced by that move.”
Caught in the middle are their mutual friends.
“They worked with the same people for so many years and a lot of people tried hard not to take sides,” the source adds. “The hope was that the cattiness would fade out after the show and all the promotion was done, but apparently that’s not the case.”
