A viral video has sparked a heated debate online and ignited an uncomfortable conversation about family, safety and the current political climate in the United States.

Influencer Rose — who goes by the handle @intlpizzagirl and lives in Edmonton, Canada — took to TikTok to explain to her more than 17.6k followers why she won’t bring her Mexican husband to visit her home country, even though he has never been and wants to go.

The video, posted July 15, has since gone viral after being shared on X.

“We live in Canada for a reason,” the woman said through tears. “This is beyond politics at this point. This is about humanity, safety, and if we really want to zoom out, it’s about hate and love.”

Rose explained that her husband has never visited the U.S., adding that legal status doesn’t guarantee safety.

“It doesn’t matter if you have a Visa, a Social Security number, if you’re married to a U.S. citizen, and if you’re even born in the U.S.,” she said. “It matters what you look like and what your skin color is.”

She went on to say the situation leaves her emotional, describing it as “horrific and heartbreaking to see people supporting, cheering on, voting to put someone in power who believes force and violence and hatred are the answers.”

The video split opinion sharply on X. One user wrote, “A white woman once asked me how my family from Latin America comes here, because Trump is deporting illegals. I almost called her a racist. Instead I took the high road and said, ‘They go to the consulate, get a tourist visa, party for 90 days, then go home to their jobs.'”

Another pushed back hard: “As a Latino who’s lived in the US for multiple years? I call this [expletive]. This is fabricated outrage for views. Last time I checked, there were 68 million plus Latinos in the US. Most law-abiding Latinos live well in the US, and we’re the 2nd largest demographic.”

A third simply wrote, “Please educate yourself. Your IQ is hanging out…”

A fourth user was more combative: “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard all month, You’re weak-minded. Everyone is welcome to come to the US, legally.”

A fifth added, “Stay out of our country then. Why would you consider coming here, when you hate it?”

Others online showed support, agreeing that her concerns reflect a real and valid fear given the current political climate.
